Students from the School of Foreign Studies at Hefei University of Technology (HFUT) Participated in the United Nations Youth Training Program in Geneva

From August 3rd to August 12th, 2024, two students Ma Xuqing (Grade 2021) and Zhang Zumeng (Grade 2023) from the Xuancheng Campus of the School of Foreign Studies at Hefei University of Technology, participated in the New Youth Global Competence summer program in Geneva, United Nations, organized by the International Education College and the Education Association for International Exchange China.

On August 6, nearly 40 teachers and students from 11 Chinese universities visited the Permanent delegation of China to the United Nations Office at Geneva. They engaged in a discussion session with young diplomats from the mission. During the meeting, the young Chinese diplomats shared their learning experiences, job-hunting journeys, and experiences of serving abroad in detail. The students listened attentively and actively engaged in the exchange with the young diplomats.

In recent years, guided by national needs, the school has established work platforms, innovated curriculum development, and actively engaged in cultivating talents with global competence, talents for international organizations, and talents for international exchange and cooperation in the new era. The school has been successfully approved as a project school for the high-level international talent training innovation practice by the Sino-Foreign Humanities Exchange Center of the Ministry of Education China, a project school for the new youth global competence talent training by the China Education Association for International Exchange, and has joined the International Competence Cultivation Professional Committee of the China Education Development Strategy Association, serving as a council member.

The School of Foreign Studies will, under the leadership of the university, continue to align with the country’s major guidance, implement the fundamental task of cultivating morality and fostering talent, propose new approaches for cultivating global competence, and focus on fostering high-level international talents who possess a global perspective, knowledge of international rules and competitiveness. The goal is to produce talents of the new era who are capable of shouldering the great responsibility of national rejuvenation.
