Indonesian major students from School of Foreign Studies visited Hasanuddin University in Indonesia (one of the most prestigious higher education institutions in eastern Indonesia founded in 1956), to participate in the 3.5+0.5 short-term exchange program in the summer of 2024. The project aims to respond to the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and deepen educational cooperation with countries along BRI based on the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation between Hefei University of Technology and Hasanuddin University. The program provides students with the opportunity to learn and practice in an internationalized environment, broadening their international horizons and enhancing their intercultural communication abilities.
Upon arrival in Makassar, students firstly visited the university campus. Later, Dean Akin introduced the school philosophy, academic achievements and future development plans, and highlighted the university's efforts to promote international education and strengthen cooperation with academics around the world at the welcome meeting. He looked forward to enhancing the friendship with Hefei University of Technology and exploring more opportunities for cooperation through this exchange. At the welcome meeting, local students also performed a wonderful Indonesian folk music program.
After the welcome meeting, our students visited Makassar and experienced the mixture of history and modernity.
In the future, the students will continue to study Indonesian language at Hasanuddin University to gain a deeper understanding of the local culture, improve intercultural communication skills, and contribute to further cooperation between the two universities.
