The Linguistics Research Center of the School of Foreign Studies was founded in 2018 with the aim to speed up the discipline construction and development of the School of Foreign Studies (SFS), consolidate academic strength and stimulate academic activities through regular and irregular academic exchanges.

Currently, the center boasts 19 members – 1 professor, 6 associate professors and 12 lecturers. The research domain of the members covers applied linguistics, language typology, corpus linguistics, functional linguistics, and pragmatics. The languages they do research on include not only foreign languages but also Chinese, as well as minority languages used in China and foreign countries.

Over the recent years, the members of the center have been granted nearly 10 provincial, ministerial and above projects such as those sponsored by the National Social Science Fund, from the humanities and social science project list of the Ministry of Education, the project list of the National Language Commission, and the list of Anhui planned philosophy and social projects. What is more, they have published about 20 papers in prestigious domestic and foreign academic journals, including Applied Linguistics and Language and Linguistics.
