   课程简介： 大学英语的教学目标是培养学生的英语综合应用能力，使他们在今后工作和社会交往中能用英语有效地进行口头和书面的信息交流，同时增强其自主学习能力，提高综合文化素养，以适应我国社会发展和国际交流的需要。大学英语教学必须把重点放在打好语言基础上。语言基础包括语言知识和语言应用能力，前者指语音、语法和词汇等方面的知识，后者指综合运用这些知识进行听、说、读、写、译等语言活动的能力。正确的语音语调、扎实的语法、一定的词汇量和熟练的词汇运用能力的提高有助于提高外语学习的效率，有利于提高语言应用能力。语言应用能力的提高也必将促进语言知识的加深和巩固。大学英语教学还应有助于学生开阔视野，扩大知识面，加深对世界的了解，借鉴和吸收外国文化精华，提高文化素养。

Unit1 A Brush with the Law

教学要求

1. 了解英美法系相关背景内容；

2. 理解记叙文叙事视角的运用及作用；

3. 掌握有关生词、语言点及虚拟语气的语法规则。

教学重点

1. 重点词汇如brush，due to，arbitrary，charge，dismiss，obscure等解析；

2. get costs awarded against the police, “right” accent等表达的解释翻译；

3. Given引起的条件假设；

4. 强调句型it is…that；

5. 虚拟语气

教学难点

1. 法律词汇

Unit4 A Fan’sNotes

教学要求

1. 了解残疾人群的生活状态及社会待遇，以及梦想对人的意义；

2. 理解英语中双关语的用法；

3. 掌握有关生词和语言点解析，复习倒装的用法。

教学重点

1. 重点词汇如statistics, run, handicap, cover, dedication, elaborate, supposed, cynical的意义及用法；

2. take sb to task, little did I know, have dedication to等表达；

3. 分词作状语；

4. 倒装结构

教学难点

1. notes 以及disabled在文中的双关意义；

2. 三种倒装用法。

Unit8 Daydream a Little

教学要求

1. 了解白日梦的定义与意义；

2. 理解思维的不同形式；

3. 掌握有关生词和语言点，掌握议论文的写作方法。

教学重点

1. 重点词汇如hostile, interfere, benefit, recommend, neglect意义及用法；

2. 重要表达如in much the same way that, go beyond, contribute to, picture…as, be after, the difference between…and等；

3. 议论文的几种写作方法。

教学难点

因果法、对比法、并列法、递进法等几种议论文写作方法的讲解与训练

Unit9 Song of Defiance

教学要求

1. 了解二战相关背景知识；

2. 理解音乐的力量；

3. 掌握重点词汇、复杂长句的结构以及分词的用法。

教学重点

1. 重点词汇如defiance，triumph，perverse，concession, recruit, handful, swell, dissolve等的意义与用法；

2. 重要表达如in contrast to/with, much of, make concessions to, turn a blind eye to, make a name for, have access to, other than that, live through, in tune, in honor of, bound for, take in等的用法；

3. 复杂长句如“SS troops were posted outside… attract Nazi attention”, “Charismatic, with a striking face…mix of prewar Prague”等的分析解释；

4. 分词的用法。

教学难点

1. 复杂长句解析；

2. 分词的构成、用法以及独立结构的用法。

Unit10 The Fantastic Spurt in Technology

教学要求

1. 了解科技革命的相关背景及其对人类社会的巨大影响；

2. 了解作者Alvin Toffler及其作品；

3. 掌握有关词汇及表达结构。

教学重点

1. 重点词汇如conjure, outdated, average, trend, embody, generate, interval, likewise, accelerate等的意义及用法；

2. 重要结构如conjure up, better than, feed on, sweep through的使用；

3. 难句长句如“the invention of the horse collar…the invention of the Bessemer furnace…” “when the most advanced technological process are carried out …” “This acceleration is frequently dramatized by a brief account of the progress in transportation” “Thousands of years go by, … a fantastic spurt forward” “Thus it is not merely true, … are being made every day.” “it is not that we …but…invented all sorts of social devices to hasten the process”的分析。

教学难点

1. 技术词汇；

2. 长难句分析。
